Setting Up Stock Management

Keep your stock in check by tracking modifier inventory on storekit. This guide walks you through the setup to ensure accurate stock management.

Updated this week

Quick Summary

Stock management in storekit helps keep orders running smoothly by ensuring accurate tracking of available stock. This is especially useful for when you have a specific stock of say ingredients or servings sizes, that applies to multiple items as a whole.

For example, you are only able to make 50 pizzas total per day and you want to track this for all your pizza items. You can do this by creating a stock modifier (eg. dough, size, etc.), attach it to all applicable products, and enable the track inventory feature for the modifier. This way, you can manage item stock as a whole and once the inventory count reaches zero, the items will automatically be unavailable.

To do this, go to Stores/Menu > Edit menu > Edit item > Modifiers > Create new group > Add an option > Enable track inventory > Set stock count > Save modifiers > Save changes

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Go To Your Item

  1. First, navigate to your menu by clicking in “Menus” on the sidebar or by clicking on “Edit menu” on your store window.

  2. Find the item you want to track stock for and click on “Edit”.

Step 2: Create New Modifier Group

  1. Click on “Modifiers” on top of the pop-up box.

  2. Click on “Create a new group” to make a new modifier group.

  3. Add a name for your modifier group. If you’re using this for pizza dough management for example, something like Choose Pizza Size would work. Then click “Add an option” to create your pizza size modifier.

Step 3: Create Stock Modifier

  1. Add the name and price for your modifier items. You can also edit other modifier item details by clicking on the edit icon beside the in stock toggle.

  2. Make the modifier group a required choice by setting the minimum and maximum number of modifiers in that group to one. This will ensure that your pizza items will be tracked according to the dough modifier stock count since customers must first choose an option to be able to add the item to their basket.

Step 4: Track Inventory For Modifiers

  1. Click on the pen icon to enter the edit modifier popup. Then toggle on “Track Inventory” and add the stock count for that modifier item.

  2. Once you’ve enabled inventory tracking for your modifiers, you can easily monitor and update the stock count on the modifier items list view.

  3. Once all done, click on “Save changes”, then click on “Save modifiers”. Go back to the main modifier tab and click on “Save changes” one last time.

Step 5: Add Stock Modifier to Other Items

  1. You can use the same modifier group to track stock for all applicable items as a whole.

  2. To do this, go to the “Modifiers” tab again. Then click on “Use an existing group” and it should show the list of existing modifier groups for all items.

  3. Simply click on “Add to product” to attach the modifier group to the product.
